Due to its large size, the climate in Canada varies significantly. Summer (July and August) is peak season, when prices are high and tourist attractions are busiest, so it’s better to visit during other months instead.

May – June: For spring flowers and warmer temperatures, spring is a great time to visit, especially if hiking and other outdoor activities are on your itinerary. The weather is still transitioning in early May, so pack accordingly. Still, this is a great time to visit for decent temperatures while avoiding hordes of tourists.

September – October: For colorful leaves and temperate weather, September and October are great months to visit. Plus, the majority of tourists are gone.

December – February: For a winter wonderland that includes outdoor winter sports, December to February pretty much guarantees snow in most of Canada. Note that December is a popular month for tourism and prices may be higher – best to visit in January or February instead.

The words “Canadian food” often evoke an image of one of two things: poutine, the famous french fry dish topped with curds and gravy, and maple everything – especially syrup. Yes, these are a couple of Canada’s traditional eats, but there are quite a few other items that make the list.

Despite the fact that poutine is Canada’s most famous dish, it’s actually primarily eaten in Quebec. Canada boasts some spectacular traditional eats from all over the country, including smoked meat, bagels, maple taffy candy, Beaver Tails (fried dough topped with nutella and other toppings), and butter tarts.
